As many of you may already know, we here at Habitat for Humanity, Mount Pleasant are launching the “Gimme Five fundraiser.  This fundraiser is ongoing and your donation will enable us to work towards our goal of eliminating poverty housing right here in our own back yard.
“Gimme Five” is designed for busy people, and takes only a few minutes to fill out the form and return it to us.
For those of you who are not familiar with our organization, Habitat for Humanity, Mount Pleasant is a program in which we help low income families achieve the American Dream; Owning a Home.  Families must first qualify with work history, income and need.  Their applications are then given to the Family Selection Committee, for further inspection.  Upon qualification, they start on the 400 Sweat Equity hours they are required to complete, in order to qualify for the home.  Working with civil organizations, budget classes, and home readiness classes, or other organizations in need of volunteers, help them complete the required hours.
We are asking you to help us out this year by giving a tax-deductible donation to Habitat for Humanity. We work very hard to provide needy families a place to call home.  We hope we can count on you for a generous donation of $5.00 a month or more. However, please note that any donation amount is always welcomed.
Enclosed you will find the “Gimme Five” donation form.  This form is designed to be filled out by you, and returned to Habitat.  We then take the form and pass it along to our banking institution.  Your bank will then take the designated amount out of your account each month, and pass along the donation to us.

"Cars for Homes” Vehicle Donation Program
Steering more low-income families toward affordable homeownership opportunities, Habitat for Humanity is launching its nationwide “Cars for Homes” vehicle donation program.

“Cars for Homes” takes donated cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, RV’s and other vehicles and sells them through automobile auctions, recyclers or salvage yards to raise funds that help build simple, decent homes.  Funds generated from vehicle sales benefit our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate and community where the donation is made.

Our local affiliate, Habitat for Humanity, Mount Pleasant is now completing its 18th home, which could not be done, without generous donors such as you.  We hope to qualify a new Habitat Family and start building our 19th home in the Spring.

Habitat began its “Cars for Homes” program in the fall of 2003 in the Seattle area.  Since that time, car donations have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars that ultimately help build homes in partnership with low-income families.

Donors can call the “Cars for Homes” toll-free number or process their car donation online.  Donor contact, title and vehicle information is collected, and upon acceptance of the donation, arrangements are made for the vehicle, keys and title to be picked up for processing.  Habitat for Humanity receives between 70 to 80 percent of the sales proceeds after towing fees and other expenses.  Donors receive an acknowledgement letter for their car donation and can check with the Internal Revenue Service or their tasks advisor for information on the tax deductibility to their donation.

Donate your used Cell Phones and Inkjet Cartridges.

Dear Friends:

Habitat for Humanity, Mount Pleasant is conducting an ongoing fundraiser.  There is nothing to buy.  We are simply asking you to donate your used cell phones and inkjet cartridges (Please do not include accessories).

1. We’re not asking you for cash donations!
2. Donations of your unwanted cell phones and inkjet cartridges can mean support for our organization.
3. You will be giving old technology new life and keep it from polluting our landfills.
4. Did you know that cell phones contain toxic materials such as arsenic, lead and zinc?  By donating them to us, you will ensure that they are recycled or disposed of properly.
